Harness Buckle Covers

For the IVA prep, I notice that you need to cover the safety harness buckles (The clips that clip onto the rool hoops).  I was originally thinking to cover them with rubber edging, but then I watched Maxwell Millz Youtube video detailing Vikash's build (Recommend watchinng it):

I noticed he had small covers over the top of his ones.  I thought I could perhaps make ones to suit, but once I had searched Google, I found ones for sale at KitCarDirect.  I thought at least this will save me some time.

I promptly ordered them.  They don't take long to place over the eyebolt, and clip in the harness.

Seat Runners

I fitted the runners to the seats.  The mounting surface was uneven due to the leather folds of the seat so I spaced off at the mouting bolts using penny washers.  This then allowed the runner to be perfectly straight with no chance of being stiff due to distortion.

I also decided that it would be neater and easier to get the bolts out in future if they went up through the body.  Here in Shetland any exposed bolt thread will corrode very quickly meaning that it is much harder to get bolts undone.

I made threaded insert blocks which fit inside the runner where the bolt from underneath will screw into.  The block has a small retainer screw to hold it into place.  This was done for all 8 fixing places.

Safety Harness Mounting Plates

For the IVA, there needs to be a radius on the safety harness mounting plates that screw on underneath the car where the eye bolts bolt through.  This was rounded off using a file, then I buffed the edges a bit with the polisher.

These are fitted to the car using stainless self tapper screws. The holes for the eye bolts could then be drilled through ready to be finally fitted when the carpets are installed.

These were then roughed up with a scotch pad, sprayed with etch primer and then semi-gloss black paint.
